What We Do

Our Services

Team Delva Cares offers three core programs designed to address the most critical home repair needs of Marion County’s most vulnerable residents.

Program 01

Accessibility & Fall Prevention

Falls are the leading cause of injury-related death among adults ages 65 and older. Our Accessibility & Fall Prevention Program helps create safer home environments so seniors and residents with mobility challenges can remain independent, secure, and comfortable in their homes for as long as possible.

When appropriate, we collaborate with qualified professionals and use ADA-informed accessibility standards to evaluate each home’s unique needs. From grab bars and handrails to ramps and other safety modifications, our goal is to make practical improvements that support daily living and reduce preventable risks.

Grab Bars & Handrails

Installed in bathrooms, hallways, and stairways per ADA specifications with proper wall anchoring.
Wheelchair Ramps
Custom-built or prefabricated ramps with proper slope ratios and non-slip surfaces at all entrances.
Roll-In Shower & Tub Conversions
Converting standard tubs to accessible step-in showers with bench seating and handheld showerheads.
Doorway Widening & Hardware
Widening doorways for wheelchair clearance; installing lever handles for easier operation.
Improved Lighting
Enhanced lighting in high-risk areas including stairways, hallways, and outdoor entries.

Program 02

Critical Home Repairs

Structural failures, plumbing emergencies, and electrical hazards can make a home unlivable — and unaffordable to fix. We step in when homeowners have no other options.

All licensed trade work is performed by vetted contractors and inspected for code compliance. We prioritize emergency cases involving immediate health or safety risks.

Roof Repair & Patching
Emergency leak remediation, shingle replacement, flashing repairs, and tarping to prevent further water damage.
Plumbing Repairs
Burst pipe repair, fixture replacement, water heater issues, and sanitation system emergencies.
Electrical Hazard Remediation
Panel replacement, faulty wiring repair, GFCI installation, and code violation correction by licensed electricians.
HVAC & Cooling
Repair or replacement of failing heating and cooling systems — critical in Florida’s extreme heat.
Structural & Weatherproofing
Foundation stabilization, subfloor repair, window and door sealing, and exterior wall weatherization.

Program 03

Home Safety Improvements

Safety hazards aren’t always structural. From missing smoke detectors to unsecured entry points, small improvements can dramatically reduce risk for vulnerable residents.

This program is often completed in a single day by our volunteer teams and can be life-saving — particularly for seniors living alone and families with young children.

Smoke & CO Detector Installation
10-year sealed battery detectors installed in all required locations per Florida fire code.
Door & Window Security
Deadbolt installation, window locks, door reinforcement kits, and peepholes for improved home security.
Mold & Moisture Remediation
Assessment, containment, and remediation of mold growth caused by leaks, poor ventilation, or flooding.
Exterior & Security Lighting
Motion-activated outdoor lighting to deter crime and prevent nighttime trip-and-fall accidents.
Code Compliance Upgrades
Bringing homes into compliance with current Florida Building Code to protect homeowners from violations.
